Ellen DeGeneres, Portia De Rossi On Forbes' World's Most Powerful Couples List

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are among the 15 couples on Forbes' annual World's Most Powerful Couples list.

The list, which is topped by President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, ranks the couple at number six, after Hollywood couple Brad Pitt and Angela Jolie and before Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer and Zachary Bogue.

Forbes ranks DeGeneres at 51 on its World's Most Powerful Women list.
According to the magazine, the 55-year-old comedian and host of The Ellen DeGeneres Show is worth an estimated $53 million.

DeGeneres and de Rossi married in California in 2008, one of the many high-profile weddings which took place in the state that summer before voters approved Proposition 8, which overturned a California Supreme Court decision legalizing such unions.
On Sunday, Netflix released the fourth season of Arrested Development, which originally aired on Fox. De Rossi, 40, reprises the role of Lindsay Funke in the sitcom.
Speaking to Los Angeles Confidential, de Rossi said that marrying DeGeneres changed their relationship.

“We were together for four solid years before we got married, but the minute we said 'I do,' the minute we stood up in front of our parents and our friends and committed to each other, our relationship changed,” she said. “I don't think people understand how important that little ceremony is and what it actually does to people. To my mother, instead of thinking of our relationship as a little bit less than my brother and his wife's relationship in some way, it made them instantly equal in her mind, and Ellen became her daughter rather than someone that I was with or dating. It just made it more like family, and our commitment to each other just strengthened instantly.”

Ellen DeGeneres: Portia’s New Haircut Is ‘Adorable’

Her new hairdo earned mixed reviews from readers, but Portia de Rossi’s latest cut has one very important fan: wife Ellen DeGeneres.

“It’s adorable,” she tells Bethenny Frankel in an episode of bethenny airing Tuesday. “She loves it. Everybody loves it. She really, really wanted to do it for a long time.”

DeGeneres says that because de Rossi grew up modeling, she always kept her hair long. “Everyone told her never to cut her hair,” she explains. “I think [long hair] just got to be part of her.”

So when de Rossi decided to take the plunge, “Everybody was like, ‘Oh, you’re going to regret it,’” DeGeneres recalls. “[But] it’s adorable and I love it.”

Though de Rossi is excited about her new look, she wasn’t so excited about its debut. “She was so upset we got paparazzi the other day,” DeGeneres says. “She was like, ‘Couldn’t it have been at an event when [my hair] was done and everything?’”

However, she’ll be able to show off another new detail soon: a wrist tattoo. “It’s a brand of her horse … a Hanoverian,” DeGeneres explains, before adding jokingly, “Not my name, it’s her horse.” Hear more from DeGeneres below.

Affectionate Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi hold hands as they shrug off jet lag

Ellen DeGeneres is known for going into spontaneous dancing jigs on her show. So it was no surprise when the 54-year-old arrived back today after a romantic Italian jaunt with wife Portia De Rossi - and skipped merrily through the airport. With a fresh, sunkissed face, DeGeneres smiled from ear to ear after landing in LAX.

Holding De Rossi's hand, the pair looked cute in matching white pants, short blonde haircuts and sunglasses.

The pair will reach their four-year wedding anniversary in August. They took an early romantic trip to Italy because Portia, 39, starts work filming a new ABC series called The Smart One.

The show is about a brilliant and successful woman who begrudgingly goes to work for her less-brainy but more popular sister - a former beauty queen, weather girl and now big city Mayor.

On the last stop of their trip yesterday, the couple - both Emmy winners - were seen strolling hand in hand in Portofino, which is near Naples, before stopping for lunch. They also spent some time on a luxurious yacht that was moored outside of the Island of Capri.

Ellen's grandparents are both from Italy and she spends many vacations there. It's a good thing the hard-working couple sneaked in some relaxation time. They're facing a big move into the new $18 million Beverly Hills mansion they purchased last month right before they left.

Enjoying Brad's pad? Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi enjoy their first beach stroll since buying Mr. Pitt's Malibu mansion

They are said to have paid Brad Pitt $2m less than the asking price for his on-the-market mansion, and now it appears that Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are reaping the rewards of their negotiating powers.

The female power couple took their first public stroll in Malibu yesterday since purchasing the A-list actor's waterfront pad last month.

The casual couple turned romantic as they enjoyed the unseasonable winter warmth.

Enjoying the high life: Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia De Rossi took a stroll in Malibu, California yesterday
Although they initially appeared to be power walking, they ditched their trainers and walked barefoot with their arms wrapped around one another.

Both women wore matching ensembles as they enjoyed the benefits of their new community.

The 53-year-old talk show host wore a grey V-neck T-shirt, a white hat, aviators, long white board shorts and electric blue shoes.

Ah, love: The married couple wrapped their arms around one another during their beach walk
Her leggy wife showed off her trim and toned figure in a tight black T-shirt, khaki capris, a black hat, avitaors and girly pink and white Asics trainers.

The two seemed happy with their decision to purchase the actor's Malibu mansion for $12m.

They had decided to downsize and put their $49m, Architectural Digest-featured Beverly Hills compound up for sale.

No doubt they will be happy in the new beachfront estate, which includes separate houses, a pool, a tennis court and expansive lush gardens. The sprawling 4,100 square foot property also has private beach access and is set back off the Pacific Coast Highway by a long private driveway.

The main house has four bedrooms and four baths, a large chefs kitchen with stainless steel appliances, bamboo floors, three fire places and a top of the range security system.

If it's good enough for Brangelina! Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi are eyeing Brad Pitt's $14million Malibu mansion

Given that it has been home to the most famous couple in the world it's bound to be a serious piece of real estate.

And Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi are looking for a new love nest and are said to be eyeing on one of Brad Pitt's pads.

The 53-year-old chat show host just put her $49million Beverly Hills compound up for sale and is now looking for something smaller.

Sources tell People Magazine, Ellen and Portia, 38, are very interested in buying Brad's $14million Malibu home.

The mansion consists of two separate houses, a pool, a tennis court and expansive lush gardens.

The sprawling 4,100 square foot property also has private beach access and is set back off the Pacific Coast Highway by a long private driveway.

The main house has four bedrooms and four baths, a large chefs kitchen with stainless steel appliances, bamboo floors, three fire places and a top of the range security system.

The home has had extensive renovations in the past couple of years with an additional story added by the environmentally conscious designer Christopher R. Sorensen.

The house is just one part of a property portfolio belonging to Brad and lady love Angelina Jolie that also includes homes in Malibu, Los Angeles, New Orleans, France and Italy.

No one knows why the wealthy pair have chosen to sell the property, which is set into a hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

35-year-old Reese Witherspoon was spotted looking at the home this past summer.

But in the end, the Legally Blonde star and her new husband, Jim Toth, decided not to buy it.
While the home is pricey, even by Hollywood standards, the $14million price tag is certainly no problem for Ellen DeGeneres.

The comedian and actress is said to have a net worth of about $85million.

Forbes Magazine recently listed her as one of the wealthiest women in Hollywood.

According to Reuters, last year alone Ellen made $45million thanks to her syndicated talk show and endorsement deals, including a contract with Covergirl Cosmetics.

Ellen got her start as a stand-up comedienne and has appeared in a number of films including EDtv and The Love Letter.

She also provided the voice of Dory in the Disney-Pixar animated film Finding Nemo and was a judge on American Idol for one year, having joined the show in its ninth season.

Ellen's wife Portia, a native of Australia, most recently co-starred on the TV series Better Off Ted and she also earns a sizeable income.
